Free Smile Foundation stepped in with a ray of hope in 2017. We saw the need for immediate action in Chhutmalpur and wasted no time in getting to work. We initiated conversations with the Chief Minister’s Office of Uttar Pradesh, advocating for a solution to the waste management issue that was plaguing the town.
After numerous discussions and deliberations, a breakthrough was achieved when the CM’s Office agreed to allocate a piece of land for the establishment of a new dumping area. This was a crucial step towards addressing the problem at its root and finding a sustainable solution for the town. With the land secured, we poured our hearts and souls into the project, working tirelessly to set up a Solid Waste Management plant that would cater to the needs of the entire town.
By the time 2018 rolled around, the plant was up and running smoothly, efficiently managing the waste produced by over 25,000 people in Chhutmalpur. The transformation was nothing short of miraculous – the once daunting mountains of garbage had been replaced by a clean and organized facility that was making a positive impact on the environment and the lives of the residents. The students at the inter college could now breathe a sigh of relief as they made their way to school each day, no longer having to navigate through the unsightly mess that had once marred their path.
